Introduction

The Office of the Attorney General is seeking applicants for a secretarial vacancy in the Securities Division.

POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this position is to render administrative and secretarial support to Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Unit Chief and Office Manager to meet the deadlines and goals of the Office of the Attorney General as it pertains to the Securities Division.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: typing legal documents, memoranda and correspondence regarding enforcement and registration under the securities laws; preparing exhibits; preparing, typing and e-mailing correspondence at a consistently high volume; processing and maintaining manual and computer registration files for registration assistants, examiners, and Assistant Attorneys General; answering the telephone and responding to basic inquiries; processing of Division mail, including registration applications, fees, and other filings; closing and boxing files in accordance with Division record retention schedule.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:  three years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.  

NOTES: 
1.  Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.  
2.  Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.  
3.  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
  

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1.  Legal secretarial experience preferred.
2.  Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel
