The Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS) is seeking dedicated candidates to fill important roles within our department. POSITION DUTIES
Lead, direct and administer the operations of the Maryland Correctional Training Commission
Administer and enforce the regulations of the Commission with all Maryland correctional agencies/units
Bring forth issues regarding regulations of the Commission with all Maryland correctional agencies/units
Direct the administrative functions for the Commission so as to comply with Maryland public meeting laws and the mission of the Commission
Direct development of training for correctional personnel to comply with the Commission and Legislative mandates, including the enhancement of the correctional profession
Direct, administer and inspect training regarding all functions within the corrections field to enhance effectiveness, efficiency and professionalism of correctional personnel
Consult with the Chair of the Commission
Consult with public safety leaders and correctional organizations throughout Maryland concerning training and correctional activity needs are being developed for future training.
Support and coordinate with the Executive Director of the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions (MPCTC)
Consult with the Commission Chair and MPCTC Executive Director regarding legislative proposals pertaining to the Commission
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or Criminal Justice related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
Experience:
3 years of professional experience serving as a member of an executive level board or board of directors.
3 years of professional experience presenting and testifying in front of a legislative session or legislative body.
3 years of professional experience researching, reviewing, investigating, and validating legislative information to present an executive level board or board of directors for decision.
Notes:
1. Additional professional experience as a member of an Executive level board or board of directors may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Additional professional experience as a Correctional Warden or Regional Commander may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a high ranking commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must meet the selective qualification(s) to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
5 years of experience as a Facility Administrator or Assistant Facility Administrator, responsible for day-to-day management and oversight of facility operations.
