Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to serve as the IEP
Coordinators. This position also provides assistance and content training
to the administrators, teachers, staff, and specialists (SLP, OT, PT, etc.) in
the area of compliance with state and federal laws affecting IEPs.
POSITION DUTIES
Assist with the
development of IEPs in all required areas; coordinate and facilitate IEP
meetings; provide assistance and content training, working closely with all
administrators, teachers, staff, and specialists on both campuses in compliance
with state and federal mandates to ensure IEPs meet all compliance requirements;
the IEP Coordinator monitors IEP documentation across campuses for consistency
in writing according to the Director’s guidance and instruction and assume
other responsibilities as designated by the Director.
This position is an 11
month school year position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master’s degree in
Education of Deaf students, Education of Deaf students with additional
disabilities, or Special Education required.
Experience: Three years of
successful classroom teaching experience with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
required. In Lieu of successful classroom teaching experience, other
relevant special education experience will be considered. Must be fluent
in American Sign Language and written English and possess knowledge of all ages
and levels of students including students with multiple disabilities and
cognitive disabilities.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in special education or Deaf
Education. Minimum of three years of experience in all aspects of the
special education IEP Team process preferred. Knowledge of the Maryland
Online IEP System is preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
New hires are subject to
a criminal background investigation at their own expense. (Maryland Code,
Family Law Article 1, Sections 5-560-568.)

provide three letters of recommendation.
