POSITION DUTIES

This recruitment is for multiple positions that will provide functional knowledge, experience, and demonstrated ability to operate, control, troubleshoot, diagnose, and make appropriate repairs to system problems or emergencies. Maintains competency, proficiency, and licensing requirements via regular training, review, and demonstrated familiarity with OPM manuals, utility plans, emergency response plans, and all applicable safety and licensing requirements. Successfully completes situational or scenario problem solving, and appropriately demonstrates and applies knowledge, skills and abilities to real problems or emergencies. Commits to quality customer service and confidentiality to work on patient and clinical areas following all applicable infection control procedures.

NOTICE: Federal COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for Certain Maryland Department of Health (MDH) Employees 

 

Per the emergency regulation issued by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) (86 FR 61555), and as permitted to go into effect by the U.S. Supreme Court on January 13, 2022, all staff at the Maryland Department of Health’s CMS certified health care facilities are required to receive either a first or single COVID-19 dose and provide proof of their vaccination status by January 29, 2022.

 

If selected for this position, candidates will be required to provide proof of vaccination status or have an approved religious or medical exemption prior to appointment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Completion of the Eighth grade.

Experience: Two years of experience in a boiler room facility tending a boiler.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional licensed stationary engineering experience on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience as a non-commissioned officer in Steelworker classifications or Mechanical Maintenance specialty codes in the Metal Fabrication, Assembly, Installation, and Repair field of work on year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification must possess and maintain a current license as a Stationary Engineer, First Grade from the State Board of Stationary Engineers.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Some positions in this classification are assigned duties which will require the candidates to be examined by a Physician.  After an offer of employment, candidates for such positions will be given a medical examination to certify the ability to perform the essential job functions.

2. Employees in this classification are subject to random substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulation 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
