This is a position Specific Recruitment for the State Department of Assessments and Taxation, Charter Filing and Processing Unit.  The resulting eligible list will be used for this position only.  Interested persons will need to reapply for future recruitments in this classification.

POSITION DUTIES

Responsible for the initial contact with the public in the Charter Unit and providing them with instructions and guidance.

Acts as first level of resource (customer service representative) for inquiries.

Responsible for smooth, prompt and courteous service in the public area. Incumbent sets appointments, confirms appointments, meets with each customer in person; reviews any documents the customer may bring with them and verifies any appointments that maybe scheduled.

Responsible for verifying the status of an entity and the processing of good standing certificates. Generates and process copy request from the public area. Responsible for inventory and copying of all forms/documents that are needed in the public area. Ensure that the public area is straight and organized at the close of business daily.

Accepts payments by credit card or checks. Verifies customer id's before accepting credit card payments with no exceptions.

Performs various other duties as assigned, which may include but not limited to supporting other teams when appropriate participates in training provided by management for any job duty deficiencies, regularly checks and responds to emails and follows SDAT's Customer Service Policy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years performing secretarial or clerical work involving typing duties.

Notes:

1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.  

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desired or Preferred

Experience working with the public via telephone and in person.
Experience responding to a high volume of emails and incoming calls on a multi-line phone system.
Experience performing mathematical computations including calculating percentages.
Experience working with Microsoft Office, Goggle and entering data into a database system.
Professional oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Must be willing to work in Baltimore city.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a keyboard of a personal computer at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements of the position.
