There are two full-time contractual positions.

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of the position is to greet the clients and assist them and /or refer them to the correct unit to resolve any outstanding issues they may have.

POSITION DUTIES

Responsible for greeting and interviewing clients to resolve their child support matters and explain office policy and procedures.  Review and analyze child support documents to ensure that all information is completed correctly.  Making sure clients have appropriate documents needed to peruse a child support case.  At all times, the incumbent will provide customer service to both internal and external customers that meets or exceed the standards set by the Department.  Analyze and review clients Child Support Orders, Custody Orders, Paternity Orders, Guardianship Orders, Civil or Ex Parte Order, Divorce Decree's Separation Agreements, Stipulations, and any other agreements.  Responsible for updating Child Support Management System (CSMS) according to policy and procedures as a daily activity occurs on a case in order to ensure accurate data.  Reviews CSMS to check case status.  Responsible for preparing daily packets for Child Support 1st  clients, Inter-State clients and Intra-State clients.  Setting up front desk with the packages need for appointments and pulling appointment schedule for Pre- Trail appointments.  Perform additional duties assign by the supervisor or Lead- Worker for the purpose of maintaining  or increasing the efficiency of child support services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications
Six months of experience using Microsoft Word  Google Docs and Sheets
Six months of experience using Excel to create spreadsheets
Six months of experience of customer service experience. 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

For education obtained outside the U.S., a copy of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service must be provided prior to hire.

The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
