Maryland 250 Assistant Administrator

Introduction

As per Maryland Executive Order 01.01.2023.10, the Maryland Department of Planning (MDP) which includes the Maryland Historical Trust (MHT), shall provide the Maryland 250 Commission with resources and staff as feasible and necessary for administering and facilitating the work of the Commission. 

 

The Maryland 250 Commission will develop, encourage, and execute an inclusive yearlong statewide celebration and commemoration in 2026 that acknowledges our successes, reckons with our setbacks, offers deepened understanding of our complex history, strengthened public appreciation for service to our nation, and heightened public engagement in civic life.


***POSITION WILL BE PART TIME THROUGH THE END OF 2023, AND WILL CONVERT TO FULL TIME IN JANUARY 2024***

Main Purpose of Job

The Maryland 250 Assistant Administrator assists the Director of Maryland 250 with research, outreach, branding, website maintenance and development, and social media management. The position supports the Director in other aspects of Maryland 250 identified as important to accomplishing project milestones and goals.

POSITION DUTIES

Performs research on people, places, traditions, and organizations throughout Maryland in support of planning for Maryland 250, compiling and organizing data and information collected.

 

Documents and catalogs all work, including work performed by the Director.

 

Provides assistance with outreach as directed by Maryland 250 Director.

 

Participates in branding, website, and social media development and implementation.

 

Participates in other aspects of Maryland 250 as identified by the Director.

 

Follows state and agency policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with online and traditional research
Experience preparing and presenting reports, spreadsheets, and presentations
Experience with social media platforms
Experience relating to the US semiquincentennial in Maryland and other states


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates will be responsible for providing their own transportation as needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned.
