LOCATION OF POSITION
The selected candidate will work at the two
(2) following locations:
LaPlata Armory
6015 Rose Hill Rd
LaPlata, Maryland 20646
And
Pax River Armory
48000 Pine River Run
Lexington Park, Maryland 20653
Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this job is to support the Maryland Military Department Installations Division. Providing building maintenance support to Pax River and LaPlata Armory's and campuses. Building maintenance and facilities maintenance includes but is not limited to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, grounds maintenance, equipment maintenance, snow removal, and door repairs. Time will be split equally between Pax River and LaPlata, 2 days at each location.
POSITION DUTIES
Positions
duties included, but not limited to:
· Complete all customer service request and work orders.
· Maintain and repair all structures, buildings, facilities,
roads, and grounds that are located on the facility.
· Maintain the roads and grounds, both paved and improved gravel
roads that may require paving and spot repair.
·Troubleshoot infrastructure systems to determine faults.
·Performs and supervises preventative maintenance on related
systems that includes but is not limited to HVAC, Broilers, Fire Control,
Generators, Compressors, and Overhead Doors (garage doors).
·Prepare request for supplemental contracted services or repairs
as needed.
·Maintain all equipment used.
·Ensures proper care in
the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous
improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
·Performs miscellaneous
job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Eighth grade.
Experience: Two years of experience in the building maintenance or building construction trades including one year of experience assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
2 years of HVAC experience
1 year of Plumbing experience
1 year of Electrical experience
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
This position will
require the ability to pass a State & Federal background check to access
military facilities within the state of Maryland and to obtain a CAC card. The
ability to obtain and maintain this access to the facility and CAC card is a
condition of employment for this position.
