Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is the responsibility of an advanced level of administrative work. The position requires the use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies.

Other duties assigned but are not limited to:  

-Directing inquiries to other units for follow-up as needed and providing support to the receptionist with telephone coverage and mail distribution. Leads and Trains the administrative specialists with providing support to the Physicians Licensure and the Allied Health units in meeting their Management for Results goals. 
-Leading/training administrative specialists on how to respond to email and telephone inquiries from practitioners and the public and how to provide information regarding application status, license verifications, qualifications for licensure, license renewal, reinstatements, or other applications filed to the Board. 
-Leading/training administrative specialist on how to research and compile data. analyze and interpret data, information and situations, and make recommendations when data does not conform to established standards, policies, and laws. 
-Providing information in regard to laws, regulations, operations, and procedures governing the agency operations. -Downloading and scanning credentials sent via email to the Boards shared network drive.  
-Special projects assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work. 

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
-Experience with analyzing and interpreting data, information, and situations to make clear and concise recommendations
-Experience making recommendations when data does not conform to established standards, policies or laws

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
