Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide training, monitoring and coaching for new and current staff in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other treatment programs. This position requires the incumbent to train staff in DJS treatment facilities on DBT skills and associated policies and procedures. The incumbent will provide training that includes Entry Level Training (ELT), initial onsite training, in-service refresher training, and remedial training on the DBT Program. This position must also be able to provide clinical services to youth as needed.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Provide onsite coaching, training, and monitoring of staff delivering DBT and other treatment programs at Victor Cullen Center as well as other locations if requested;

  • Provide the Department's DBT entry level, initial onsite, in-service, and remedial training;

  • Provide DBT and other clinical services at the Victor Cullen Center and other facilities, as needed;

  • Implement monitoring procedures to ensure DBT program fidelity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. 

Experience: Five years of administrative staff or professional work.

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
 
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
 
3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
 
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates appointed to this position must possess a Mental Health (i.e., Counseling, Psychology or Social Work) license from the State of Maryland.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

  • Two years of experience assessing and/or providing therapy to the population of adolescents with mental health and/or substance abuse disorders in the Juvenile Justice system.  

  • Two years of experience working with an adolescent population with mental health and/or substance abuse issues.

  • Prior DBT Training and/or certification.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
