Introduction
The Maryland Department of Labor is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Management Associate. This skilled position serves as the Executive Assistant for the Department of Labor. A Management Associate is work providing secretarial support to an official, administrator or administrative staff. Employees in this classification type on keyboards of personal computers using word processing software.

Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
- Provide Assistance to the Director and Deputy Director in OGS.
- Relieves the supervisor of operational details by assembling, compiling, and summarizing data into a concise form and preparing reports and files.
- Drafts routine and complex correspondence.
- Acts as an intermediary for the supervisor maintaining frequent contacts with public and private executives, professional staff, and other officials.
- Acts as HR Liaison for OGS
- Maintains important and confidential records, schedules, expense accounts and office supplies.
- Proofreads outgoing correspondence and reviews records for completeness and accuracy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Five years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.
Notes:
1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration or Personnel Specialist classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Special Assistant or Secretarial fields of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
Microsoft Office Suite software applications (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
Experience researching technical matters
Experience using FMIS
Experience with Budget and Procurement
Experience working with all levels of management
Experience developing and facilitating technical writing and style standard for documentation
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (Department of Labor/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to Department of Labor/DUI as a result of unemployment overpayment/fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.
