Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this full-time contractual position will be to coordinate a series of confidential individual death reviews by a multidisciplinary team to effectively identify system gaps and innovative community-specific overdose prevention and intervention strategies to prevent future overdose deaths in Dorchester County. This position will collect and analyze data for reports, meetings, and grants to address opioid use and drug overdose in Dorchester County. This position will also collaborate, assist and/or support opioid related initiatives as assigned in Dorchester County and the Mid-Shore. In addition, this position will collaborate/communicate with Doctor's, healthcare professionals, law enforcement, and family members of individuals who have fatally overdosed. The selected candidate must have the professional communication skills to obtain information from a diverse variety of sources.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional work in a health care setting.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
  • An Associate's degree in a healthcare related field;
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting with individuals suffering from a behavioral health disorder and their families;
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Meets;
  • Experience analyzing data and preparing reports.

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
