POSITION DUTIES
• Inspects building and grounds for adherence to institutional
safety and sanitary regulations.
• Replaces ceiling and floor tiles, and lighting throughout
the State building(s).
• Replace filters, checks, and maintains sewer lines and clean
traps.
• Create and execute assigned work orders using the CMMS
system.
• Fix spills, leaks and breakages.
• Performs maintenance repairs on equipment, doors and any
related hardware.
• Clears roadways, parking areas and sidewalk from debris,
trash and clutter.
• Maintains landscaping area, flowered areas, and shrubbery.
• Performs carpentry repairs and painting when required.
• Additional functions may be required to fulfill the Agency's mission; to maintain all State buildings and grounds.
This is an Emergency Essential position subject to emergency release procedures. Employees in this position must be willing and available for duty at all hours, day or night, and are required to remain or report for duty at all hours as needed to maintain the continuous operation of this agency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: None.
Experience: Two years of experience in State government as a Maintenance Worker III or equivalent class.
OR
Education: Fifth grade.
Experience: Four years of experience in any combination of two or more of the maintenance trades such as carpentry, electricity, metalwork, welding, painting, plastering, plumbing, air-conditioning, refrigeration, steam fitting, masonry, and the other trowel trades.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute graduation from an accredited vocational-technical high school for up to two years of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in utilities repair classifications or construction and engineering specialty codes in any combination of maintenance trades, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong preference will be given to applicants who
possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and
specific information on your application regarding all qualifications.
•Experience with basic record keeping
•Experience safely operating maintenance tools
and machinery.
•Experience understanding and following writing
and oral instructions.

this position will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience

QUALIFIED, or QUALIFIED. The eligibility list will be valid for one year
and may be extended. The list will be used by the hiring authority to
select employees for interviews. Eligible lists may be used to fill future vacancies
of the same classification.

complete and successfully pass a State and Federal fingerprint background check
prior to being hired.
