MDH, Spring Grove Hospital Center, Catonsville, MD

Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to supervise and manage the supply officers and other personnel performing the daily duties involved with the Central Storeroom. This position is responsible for receiving, record keeping, and delivery of all supplies and materials and all capital equipment items. This position ensures the timely delivery of all commodities to the various internal customers at this hospital and also maintains the stock as per the Maryland State guidelines indicated in DGS Inventory Control Manual. This position also assists the agency's Property Officer with various functions to include the inventory of all capital equipment, their transfer, inventory record keeping of all materials and supplies, etc. This position works at the full performance level and receives general supervision from the Administrative Office II or designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of experience in general services functions, office administration activities or in the receiving, storing, issuance, purchase or requisition of equipment, materials, and parts and supplies.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience as stated above on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in logistics specialist classifications or administrative support specialty codes in the logistics field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:
  • Experience managing and maintaining inventory of stock items using Inventory Control software
  • Knowledge/ experience with NIGP codes or similar commodity codes
  • Experience with scanners using barcode inventory system and conducting year end physical counts and reconciliations
