Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this full-time contractual position is to coordinate stakeholder activities within the Maryland Department of Health (MDH)'s Center for Cancer Prevention and Control (CCPC)'s Comprehensive Cancer Control Program (CCCP). This position will be responsible for supporting the Maryland Cancer Collaborative (MCC), as well as MCC workgroups and other stakeholder groups, such as the Patient Navigation Network and the Lung Cancer Screening Collaborative.

This position will also be responsible for a variety of other tasks, including planning and organizing the work of stakeholder groups; engaging in frequent contact with members; coordinating the development and updating of work plans and activities; and advising partners on approaches in the Maryland Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan. Furthermore, this position will make recommendations to ensure that stakeholder activities are cross-cutting, synergistic and reporting on progress. Finally, this position will maintain cooperative relationships with MCC members, subject matter experts, and other partners in order to revise and update the Maryland Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of professional experience assisting in the coordination of a health-related program(s), or referring people to governmental and private resources.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university, on a year-for-year basis, for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a Commissioned Officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health-related field of work, on a year-for-year basis, for the required experience and education.

SELECTION PROCESS

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this, or other, State agencies.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract, and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. 

You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12-month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
