Introduction
The Maryland Department of Labor (MDOL) Division of Unemployment Insurance is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of UI Intermittent Associate I with the functioning title of Claims Intake Representative. This recruitment will be used to fill multiple current and future vacancies throughout the State of Maryland. This position will also work a hybrid teleworking schedule. All candidates must meet the minimum during the time apply. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year after the closing date of the announcement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Must posses an Associate Degree from a accredit college or university
Experience: None
OR
Substitution Qualifications (Qualified applicants may substitute the below qualifications in lieu of the Associate Degree. Applicants must posses both education and experience in order to qualify)
Education: Must posses a high school diploma or GED
Experience: Four years clerical experience answering phones assisting customers
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior customer service experience in claims taking
- Computer experience working with various computer programs

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS
U.S. Military Veterans may qualify for additional bonus points towards certification. Any job offer will be contingent on the candidate providing a U.S. Military form DD 214 verifying honorable discharge from service prior to starting employment (and may be requested prior to interview). Permanent State employees do not need to submit proof of Veterans’ status.
