Main Purpose of Job
The candidate is assigned to headquarters. The candidate will provide support for the
overall Academic Program, including the Neglected & Delinquent (N&D) Grant and the
Adult Education and Literacy Services (AELS) grant. This includes, but is not limited to
support in writing grant proposals, completing reports, managing the budget, completing
needs assessments, communication with the grantors, and communication with internal
staff members related to purchasing and spending of grant funds.
POSITION DUTIES

Support of management of grants. This includes support in research and request of data, tracking of data, expenditures, and support in the preparation of grants, reports, and communications related to the grants.
- Research of topics related to the delivery of instruction and all services and supports in the planning of professional development materials and activities.
- Tracking and production of Academic Certificates, monitoring Professional Development Logs, and support in ordering supplies and materials.
- Participate in meetings at the request of the Academic Coordinator and/or Director of Correctional Education.
- Data collection, analysis, and presentation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong preference will be given to applicants that possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information in the work experience section your application regarding the qualifications.
- Two or more years of experience with Google docs, the Microsoft office suite, managing expenditures, maintaining records and files.
- Three or more years of experience with grant management support; data collection, analysis and presentation; development of training presentations and materials; purchasing of supplies and equipment.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
All candidates are subject to a background check against files maintained by the Division of Unemployment Insurance (LABOR/DUI) to determine whether any monies are owed to LABOR/DUI as a result of an unemployment insurance overpayment and/or fraud. Any unpaid debt may have an impact on whether or not a candidate is offered employment.

The assessment may consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience related to the requirements of the position. BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
