Main Purpose of Job

This full-time contractual position serves as the Behavioral Health Hospital Coordinator. This position’s scope is to identify, create, and implement mechanisms and tools to expedite community based behavioral health services for individuals experiencing delays in service transition from hospital emergency departments and inpatient psychiatric care. The goal of this position is to improve the system’s supportive infrastructure through interagency care management, the expansion of provider services, coordination with local behavioral health authorities and local department of social service agencies, and the larger public behavioral health system to expedite care and improve quality outcomes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and six years of health or human services administrative or professional experience, including at least 3 years of experience leading a project from inception to implementation and 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience. A Master's degree will substitute for one year of the general experience and a Doctorate will substitute for two years of the general experience. Additional experience will substitute on a year-for-year basis for the college degree.

The desired candidate should possess the following:
  • experience working across multiple stakeholder groups to achieve an outcome
  • experience working in human services dealing with complex support needs
  • working knowledge of public policy impact on human services

SELECTION PROCESS

This is a Management Service position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority. A resume must accompany your application.

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
