POSITION DUTIES
The Assistant State
Superintendent, Administration, is a pivotal leadership role within the
Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), responsible for providing
strategic oversight and guidance to essential administrative functions. Serving
as principal advisor to the Deputy State Superintendent of Operations, the
Assistant State Superintendent oversees critical offices, including Human
Resources, Information Technology, School Facilities, Pupil Transportation and
Emergency Management, and Facilities and Operations. The Assistant State
Superintendent will provide visionary leadership in the development and
implementation of short- and long-term goals in alignment with and support of
MSDE’s multi-year strategic plan and Blueprint for Maryland’s Future.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A
Bachelor’s degree in from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Six
years of related experience in coordinating or administering administrative
programs or services in Human Resources, Information Technology, School
Facilities, Pupil Transportation and Emergency Management, and/or Facilities
and Operations.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the
following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific
information on your application regarding your qualifications.
- Experience leading effective administrative functions in education and/or state government.
- Experience leading expansive, mission-critical projects.
- Senior management experience in Human Resources, Information Technology, School Facilities, Pupil Transportation and Emergency Management, and/or Facilities and Operations.
