Introduction

Maryland Public Television, commonly known as MPT, is a public television network that broadcasts throughout the entire state of Maryland and the District of Columbia and into parts of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. MPT is Maryland's only statewide broadcaster. Headquartered in Owings Mills, MPT is a member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and is a producer of both locally and nationally distributed TV programs and digital content.

Main Purpose of Job

Paid interns will closely support the Production Operations and Content departments with duties that range the full gamut of production to the final product. Tasks include, but are not limited to, assisting field and studio productions, logging footage, generating content for MPT social media platforms, writing short archival segments, and editing segments in Adobe Premiere or Avid. Interns may be required to work in unpleasant weather, challenging terrain, water, around animals or with heavy equipment.

Preference will be given to applicants with at least one year of experience with editing and editing equipment/software.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate is required.

Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college or university in Media, Communications, Journalism, or related discipline.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants may be asked to provide a copy of a portfolio or samples of previous work, if selected for an interview. 

This position may require a flexible work schedule.
