(AT) devices and services.

This position is co-located at the Howard County Loan Closet, 7125 Riverwood Drive, D1, Columbia, MD 21046 for 2 days per week, and the remaining time is spent at the 2301 Argonne Drive, Baltimore, MD 21218 location.
Main Purpose of Job
The AT Reuse & Access Coordinator position is charged with supporting the AT activities of the Maryland Assistive Technology Program (MDTAP), including facilitating and expanding the AT reuse activities of under MDTAP, managing and expanding the inventory of gently used, donated equipment within the High Tech AT Reuse Center, and supporting in-house AT demonstrations and loans within the MDTAP AT Library and the Howard County Loan Closet. Additionally, this position collaborates with state and local government agencies, non-profits and advocates to organize and deliver trainings on AT related topics, provide direct information and referral on AT related topics, and fields assistive technology questions and concerns. This position works directly with the AT Clinician, AT & Public Health Coordinator, and the MDTAP ED to recommend AT Library purchases, support the inventory process, and ensure appropriate inventory practices are maintained for all new AT entered into the AT Library.

POSITION DUTIES
A. Assistive Technology Reuse Program
1. Works with Executive Director to
establish best practices and policies to implement and expand assistive
technology reuse initiatives across the state;
2. Manages the AT Equipment Exchange
Facebook page, to establish equipment exchanges electronically;
3. Collect and report equipment
exchange data in the MDTAP data collection system;
4. Develop, evaluate, and update
related MATR Operations & Procedures documents, including application
process, donation waivers, etc.;
5. Manages the day-to-day operations
of the MD High-Tech AT Reuse Center (MATR) located within the Howard County (HoCo)
Loan Closet (on site):
- manages
the online MATR inventory site;
- facilitates
donations of used AT devices;
- develops/improves
systems to streamline donation sites;
- assesses
the viability of donated equipment for re-distribution, and/or determines repair
needs;
- collaborates
with HoCo Loan Closet staff to ensure appropriate recycling measures for
non-working equipment;
· utilizes expertise and
technical knowledge to support small repairs of AT devices;
- meets
with AT-reuse clients to conduct AT demonstrations & consultations to
determine appropriateness of available refurbished AT;
- disseminates
re-used AT when appropriate;
- coordinates
a network of volunteers to conduct repair & refurbishment;
- facilitates
events and activities to support AT repair initiatives.
6. Fields all AT Reuse inquiries
through the designated AT Reuse email account; AT Reuse designated phone line;
web-based inquiries for equipment through the MATR Inventory site; and the
through the online MATR application;
7. Coordinates with statewide agencies
and disability organizations to expand AT reuse projects and reuse awareness
initiatives;
8. Researches funding opportunities
and submits grants to support and expand AT reuse statewide;
9. Researches and identifies
systems-change opportunities to expand reuse as a cost-savings measure for
Medicaid recipients, school systems, and others;
10. Evaluates, identifies, and
coordinates on statewide policies & programs to increase access to AT from
state agencies; develops inter-agency collaborations to increase donations of
and access to AT through the reuse program;
11. Conducts outreach and awareness
around equipment reuse.
B.
Device Demonstration and Loan Program
1. In
collaboration with the MDTAP AT Clinician, conducts device demonstrations,
loans, and consultations for consumers when appropriate;
2. Collaborates with AT staff and Executive
Director on purchases of assistive technology products for MDTAP AT Library and
Community Libraries across the state;
3. Works
collaboratively with AT staff to inventory all items available for
demonstration and loan, and support tracking of items lent to individuals,
organizations, and sub-contractors;
4. Provides group AT Library tours;
5.
Demonstrates assistive technology products to individuals and groups at
demonstration libraries across the state, both virtually and in-person.
C. Assistive Technology Training
& Outreach
1.
Conducts AT program overviews and AT outreach both in-person and virtually;
2. In
collaboration with AT Clinician and Executive Director, develops AT training sessions
to be provided in-person or virtually.
D. Information and Assistance
1.
Assists MDTAP staff in responding to phone, email, and mail requests for specific information about assistive technology and
related services, and provides referrals as needed.
E. Activity Reporting
1.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, will collect data required for
federal reporting on all activities mandated under
the federal grant (demonstration, loan, reuse, public awareness, training, information and
referral).
2. Submits to the Executive Director a general
report of monthly activities (submitted the last day of each month).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Six years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for five years of the required experience.
4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of
1 year working in the field of assistive technology, rehabilitation technology,
disability services, occupational therapy, or special education.
RESNA
Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) or Assistive Technology Certification.
Experience working
with individuals to assess, recommend, or loan assistive technology devices.
Experience
providing disability-specific resources, information and/or referrals to ensure
appropriate access to disability services.
Experience
developing and presenting on topics of assistive technology and/or disability
services.
Experience
coordinating volunteers and partners.
Experience
working within the State of Maryland inventory system, including familiarity
with the process for entering equipment, conducting annual inventory audits,
and handling the surplus equipment process.

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
