Introduction
This contractual position is funded by the State Compensatory
Education funds. The position will be a minimum of 20 hours per week but may
require more hours as needed.

Main Purpose of Job
This position will coordinate compensatory education services for students who have been identified through a specific determination process. The services include remediation and supplemental instruction towards identified educational IEP goals and the coordinator will be responsible to support and coordinate services provided by the compensatory services educators.
POSITION DUTIES
To perform this job
successfully, an individual must be an experienced educator, be familiar with
the IEPs and be comfortable with
tracking student progress in a database. The successful candidate will be responsible for
assisting with the interview and hiring of qualified teachers, coordinating
services with families,
the IEP department, classroom teachers, and assistant principals, and to assure
that providers are
following the intervention plan for the student.
The coordinator will submit provider timesheets and will be responsible
for tracking services in the database and reporting to the
Director of IEP Services on completion rates or areas of concern. The incumbent will be responsible to
maintain the expenses and monitor the grant funds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: Candidates must have had teaching experience as well as knowledge of
IEPs and special education services and documentation. Must
have strong communication skills both written and verbal.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include the use of iCloud
storage and spreadsheets, strong time management, fluency in American Sign Language, and excellent organizational skills.
Experience
using a video phone.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
New hires are subject to a criminal background investigation at

BENEFITS
Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
