POSITION DUTIES
The Institutional Parole Associate position serves as the
Commission’s liaison within the DPSCS Correctional facilities the Commission’s
hearings and to provide inmates with all the parole related rights and
processes that are afforded under the law and the Parole Commission’s
procedures. At the IPA I level, incumbents are trained and oriented to the job
responsibilities under close supervision, functioning with increasing job scope
and independent authority as experience is gained.
- Coordinating
and communicating with institutional personnel, and offenders as the
Commission’s liaison in order to facilitate parole/ revocation hearings
- Facilitating/coordinating releases with other jurisdictions for offenders being released to detainers;
- Coordinating
medical parole releases;
- Coordinating
open parole hearings;
- Answering
staff, inmate, and family questions as well as correspondence about parole issues;
- Obtaining
duplicate file material and/or other necessary information from case
management;
- Maintaining
monthly statistics on file reviews, appeals, decisions served, and
correspondence addressed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school
equivalency certificate.
Experience: Three years work experience involving public
contact.
Note: Candidates may substitute education at an accredited
college or university at a rate of thirty credit hours for each year of
experience for the required experience.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Two years
of experience using Offenders Case Management System (OCMS)
2. Two years
of experience working in a correctional setting.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employees in this classification may be required to have
access to a motor vehicle. Standard mileage will be paid.
2. Employees in this classification may be required to work at other institutions whenever workload levels warrant reassignment.
