POSITION DUTIES

To perform various clerical functions in an assessment office which include, but are not limited to, reviewing, verifying and interpreting information for determining and resolving problems.

This position has two main purposes: 1. Review and research various types of legal documents for properties being transferred for accuracy and sufficiency of information provided to effect property transfers. 2. To assist property owners with questions concerning the Homeowners/Renters Tax Credit program, personal property and real property. Property Transfers- Review various types of legal documents for property being transferred to verify the accuracy and sufficiency of the information provided to effect property transfers following established office procedures.

Partial Transfers - Determine if deed is transferring only a portion of the property. Record information on Intake Sheet accordingly to show correct acreage and description of each account. Use deed plotter to plot new parcel, draw on worksheet maps, give to assessor to revalue each account.

Assist the Public- Provide assessment related information to the general public both in person and by phone regarding the assessment records, property ownership, tax credits, personal property and real property.

Agricultural Application- Mail and monitor agricultural applications to new property owners or Tree Farm participants who have signed a Letter of Intent. Upon return, distribute to appropriate assessor for review.

Miscellaneous-Perform other duties as may be required. Including completing Enterprise Zone report, typing letters & reports, and entering property sketched.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience performing clerical duties.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours of education at an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.

2. Six months clerical training with three courses in subjects such as keyboarding, clerical math, word processing, spreadsheets, database, graphics presentation, proofreading, or office etiquette may be substituted for six months of the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administrative classifications or in Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Clerical Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

1. Experience using Microsoft Office and entering data into a database system.
2. Experience using a Multi-line phone system. 
3. Experience working with the public via telephone and in person. 
4. Experience performing mathematical computations including calculating percentages

Must be willing to work in Anne Arundel County.
