Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of the Administrative Specialist II/Licensing Unit Records Support position is to provide comprehensive administrative support for the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists. The Licensing Unit Records Support position is responsible for the timely recordation, initial processing. and dissemination of incoming mail, revenue, applications, and other correspondence to designated staff. Other duties assigned but not limited to: answering incoming calls on the main telephone line for the Board maintenancing and distributing the daily mail logs and check tally logs initial independent review of applications to ensure completeness updating criminal background information in the licensing system data entry to track the progress of applications from intake through issuance records retention and filing for the Board, specifically the Licensing Unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
  • Experience with evaluating submissions for accuracy
  • Experience processing payments
  • Experience with data entry
  • Experience with cash handling

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates may be responsible for providing their own transportation as needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned.
