Main Purpose of Job

Provide full performance levels of support to the Legal Department, a unit of corporate attorneys who carry out statutory mandates articulated in the Maryland Corporations and Associations Code Annotated. Exercises independent judgment and action on tasks delegated by the Program Manager.

POSITION DUTIES

To provide full performance levels of support to the Legal Department, a unit of corporate attorneys who carry out statutory mandates articulated in the Maryland Corporations and Associations Code Annotated, you will:

Exercise Independent Judgment and Action: Perform tasks delegated by the Program Manager with autonomy, making informed decisions based on your expertise and the requirements of the task.

Paralegal and Administrative Assistance: Support the SDAT Ground Rent program with all relevant duties, ensuring compliance with legal requirements. Prepare, review, and manage documents, including charter documents, trade name filings, name reservations and certificates of status

Transaction Processing and Customer Service: Efficiently process transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Respond to customer inquiries via email and telephone, providing clear and helpful information.

Workflow Organization and Task Management: Organize the workflow within the department to ensure smooth operations. Assign tasks to appropriate team members, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and on time. Obtain necessary documents and review filings for accuracy and compliance.

Legal Research and Application: Conduct legal research to support the department’s activities. Apply relevant Maryland law to ensure compliance and provide accurate legal information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience performing clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working in a fast-paced, customer and team-oriented work environment. 

Professional oral/written communication and interpersonal skills. 

Experience using Microsoft Office, Google, and entering data into a database system. 

Experience using a multi-line phone system, Excel, and PowerPoint. 

Experience working with the public via telephone, in person, and via written correspondence

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

Must be willing to work in Baltimore City.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates may be responsible for providing their own transportation as needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned.
