As part of the Maryland State Department of Education, the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) provides services to assist students with disabilities prepare for the work world, vocational rehabilitation services to assist adults with significant disabilities who are seeking to enter or reenter the workforce, and the adjudication of Social Security disability claims for the citizens of Maryland.

POSITION DUTIES

This position will provide monitoring, repairing, purchasing, managing inventory, and generating requisitions for agency office supplies and equipment. Serve as lead clerical to ensure that various daily workloads for clerical and data entry functions related to claims processing for the Maryland Disability Determination Services Case Control Unit in the absence of the Staff Specialist III.

Position Duties Include: 
  • Independently monitor agency materials and supplies to ensure maintenance of adequate supply levels.  
  • Make periodic review of equipment storage areas throughout the agency to ensure adequate stock. 
  • Manage the purchase of agency supplies using corporate purchasing card and generating requisitions through proper channels. 
  • Track and log repairs of office equipment and furniture to ensure proper working condition, maintaining a log of repair orders. 
  • Independently resolve billing and delivery issues by contacting agency vendors and suppliers.  
  • If verification of delivery shows an error, vendor is contacted for resolution.  
  • Consult with Administrative Specialist Support Services or Program Manager III Support Services on billing issues with ramifications to agency budget or open purchase orders. 
  • Respond to agency inquiries regarding status of SSA disability claims with SSA field offices, claimants, and authorized representatives. 
  • Keep up to date on all updates to purchasing processes as well as state and SSA system or process upgrades.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes: 
1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience. 
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

The one year of experience must be in supply purchasing and inventory management or you may substitute 30 credits from an accredited college or university in finance, business, accounting, or related subjects for the one year of required experience. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

A suitability determination by the Social Security Administration is necessary to determine whether an employee can be issued credentials.
