Main Purpose of Job

This position supports all criminal investigative work for the Forestville Barrack, which has roughly 30 sworn personnel. The incumbent is responsible for all UCR statistics (monthly and annually), all expungement requests, all court ordered subpoenas for investigative records, and every transmission of investigative files in preparation for trial at the request of investigators and prosecutors at the States Attorney's Office. This position handles and controls all logistics as it relates to investigative files; its audit, inspection, and retention. This person is the liaison for the Central Records Division and CJIS' audit and inspections for juvenile retention and Live Scan imaging.

POSITION DUTIES

Administrative Duties: Review and analyze all reports and documents to obtain necessary information for recording in compliance with the Uniform Crime Reporting System. After verifying information, the incumbent must enter the data into the computer and process the reports through four (4) additional stages (ledgers, master cards, correlation), for filing in records room in appropriate files. Invoice and working fund processing, incident summary report, crime control and prevention inventory, and Juvenile Justice Advisory Council

 

Liaison with investigators from the State's Attorney's Office (SAO); preparing investigative files for trial.

 

Compliance/Adherence Duties

 

Filing, auditing, inspecting and purging files for Central Records Division

 

Processing expungement requests and following expungement procedures.

 

Preparing responses to defense and court ordered subpoenas, decentralized line inspections.

 

CJS' juvenile audit and inspections; miscellaneous in-house requests

 

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications:


1. Experience with MD Court System/States Attorney Office, along with proven written and verbal communication with those entities


2. Experience with Google Applications, specifically Google Sheets and MS Office

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties, which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates may be responsible for providing their own transportation as needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned.

SELECTION PROCESS

Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be considered for this classification. Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information on your application. Successful candidates will be placed on the Eligible List categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED OR QUALIFIED and remain eligible for consideration for at least one year from the date of examination. The list will be used by the hiring manager to select employees.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position. You may be required to complete a qualifications supplement, or the rating may be based on your application. Report all experience and education that is related to this position. Applicants may be given a physical examination and will be subject to an interview, background investigation, polygraph examination and substance abuse testing.
