The Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) is dedicated to transforming young lives, creating safer communities, and fostering equitable systems. We are seeking passionate individuals for the role of FOOD ADMINISTRATOR III, so come join our team and make a meaningful impact on youth and the community at DJS!

To direct all daily activities of the food service operation at the Backbone Youth Center. This includes planning, organizing, evaluating, and directing food production and food service including the procurement of food and food service supplies. This position supports the mission of the agency by providing safe, nutritious, appetizing meals that promote the optimal health, growth, and well-being of youth housed at the Backbone Center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Eight years of experience, four years of experience managing large-scale food service operations in an institutional, commercial, industrial or similar organization and an additional four years of experience supervising in a large-scale food service operation.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and four years of experience managing large-scale food service operations in an institutional, commercial, industrial or similar organization for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Food Services Officers classifications or Food Services Manager and Services Officer specialty codes in the food service management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must meet the minimum and selective qualifications to be considered. Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications. 
Candidates for this position must possess four (4) years of experience as a Youth Center Cook Lead at a DJS Facility.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate for this position may possess any of the following qualifications: 
  • Experience supervising or leading a large-scale food service operation in an institutional, commercial, industrial, or similar organization. 
  • A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Food & Beverage Management, Hospitality Management, Dietetics, Nutrition, Food Service Management, Restaurant and Food Services Management, Culinary Arts, Institutional Administration, or a closely related field. 
  • Experience in food production or service in an institutional setting such as hospitals, nursing homes, universities, or correctional facilities.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This recruitment is limited to current DJS Dietary Service employees only.
