POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this WIC Services Associate Lead position will be to:
  • Oversee daily operations including ordering of supplies and monitoring of clinic flow 
  • Perform eligibility determination, health and nutrition screening and referral services to WIC applicants
  • Provide basic nutrition counseling to WIC clients 
  • Issue benefits to eligible WIC participants

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:   Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience in health or human service delivery, performing tasks such as program eligibility determination, health screening, client referral services, or nutrition education, including one year providing such services to WIC clients.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute the completion of 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Health Services classifications or Health Services and specialty codes in the health-related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess:
  • WIC experience 
  • Experience demonstrating exceptional customer service
  • Bilingual (ability to speak 2 languages fluently)

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.
