Main Purpose of Job
MMD is looking for a skilled
and reliable plumber to join our team. As a Plumber with the Maryland Military
Department, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining
plumbing systems for all Maryland National Guard facilities. You will work on
various projects, from fixing leaks and unclogging drains to installing water
heaters and repairing steam lines. This position will maintain, repair, and
install the plumbing and heating components of forty-two (42) Maryland National
Guard Facilities, including 342- buildings, 1 operational airfield and 4
military training sites in accordance with State, Local and Federal rules, laws
and regulations.
POSITION DUTIES
Including
but not limited to:
· Repair, replace or install new plumbing accessories:
· Diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing issues.
· Utilize the E-maintenance system to maintain record of work
orders, parts etc.
· Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal plumbing
codes and regulations.
· Repair or replace washers in valves, broken pipes, opening traps,
steam valves, and gas valves.
· Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Eighth grade.
Experience: Four years of experience in the building maintenance or building construction trades including three years of experience assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience as a plumber technician.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
· Experience repairing, replacing or installing new plumbing accessories such as water closets, flush valves, urinals, sinks, etc.
· Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, and tools.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland with less than 5 points to operate a state vehicle.
