Main Purpose of Job

The Member Services Administrative Assistant is an essential employee that is integral to the efficient operations of the Maryland Teachers and State Employees Supplemental Retirement Plans (“MSRP”). This position provides administrative support in the agency’s critical business area of Member Services, which is managed by the Director of Member Services. This position’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following: serving as a liaison to State benefit and retirement coordinators; creating webinar announcements and other communications to State benefit and retirement coordinators; preparing and updating the Member Services Policy and Procedure Manual; compiling data, preparing, and maintaining a variety of statistical reports; posting webinar updates and other pertinent information on the MSRP website; serving as MSRP’s official Timekeeper in Workday; preparing, organizing, and distributing PowerPoint webinars and workshop presentations; and serving as a liaison to the Plan Administrator; provides all aspects of primary administrative support for the Director of Member Services.

POSITION DUTIES

Prepares, organizes, and distributes PowerPoint webinars and workshop presentations.

Coordinates the scheduling of guest speakers for webinars and seminars. Ensures that updated bios for all speakers are received in a timely manner.

Serves as a liaison to State benefit and retirement coordinators.

Maintains an up-to-date data base of State benefit coordinators. 

Creates webinar announcements and other communications to State benefit and retirement coordinators.

Maintains a master schedule of the various seminars and workshops.

Posts webinar updates and other pertinent information on the MSRP website.

Serves as a liaison to the Plan Administrator (Nationwide).

Attend monthly strategy team meetings (virtually or in house) and additional meetings as often as needed.

 Attend all Board Meetings.


Prepares, updates, and maintains the Member Services Policy and Procedure Manual.

Works on various special projects, as assigned.

Compiles data, prepares, and maintains a variety of statistical reports.

Provides primary administrative and support for the Director of Member Services and Member Services staff.

Serves as MSRP’s official Timekeeper in Workday.

Provides primary coverage of main local and toll-free agency telephone calls, takes routed calls, accepts messages, or redirects calls to appropriate staff. Retrieves, opens, and distributes incoming mail.

Fulfills requests for printed material and supplies of informational packages and performance reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work. 

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred or Desired Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

- One year experience creating and managing complex databases.     
- One year experience using Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- One year experience researching and interpreting laws, regulations and policies.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
