Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this position is to provide administrative support for the diverse set of activities of the Planning Services and State Data & Analysis Center divisions. Planning Services consists of staff members whose functions are to develop and implement programs in support of the Governor’s mission empower Maryland to “Win the Decade” by investing in community resiliency and sustainability. Planning Services consists of two major groups, Planning Coordination and Planning Data and Research.

POSITION DUTIES

Job duties include providing general office support for the Planning Services Division. Work includes setting document templates, preparing mail merges for mailing, coordinating scheduling of Planning Service meetings, serving as primary liaison on purchase orders, setting up and coordinating onsite or off-site conference logistics, and attending meetings, workshops, and conferences, as needed, for support purposes.

Work also involves general data processing and reporting, editing web pages and providing specific support to Planning Services managers – Local Assistance and Training, Resource Conservation & Management, Infrastructure and Development, Planning Data and Research.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Two years of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work. 

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

- Four years experience managing complex databases.     

- Four years experience using Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

- Two years experience documenting, researching, and/or resolving website errors.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
