Performance Based Opportunity
As part of our continuous efforts to optimize performance
and drive success the Natural Resource Planner I is eligible for an annual
promotion. The incumbent may advance
to a higher grade within the classification series, based on satisfactory work
performance.
Progressive grade levels include:
Natural Resource Planner II – Grade 15 ($57,275.00-$92,108.00)
Natural Resource Planner III – Grade 16 ($60,987.00-$98,313.00)

Main Purpose of Job
The Natural Resources Planner (NRP) I is an entry level position. The incumbent in this position will learn to provide general and technical support for the Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program (VEIP) within the Mobile Sources Control Program (MSCP). The NRP I is responsible for collection, review, and interpretation of quality assurance data. The position is engaged in research and planning projects of limited complexity. The incumbent will also travel to various VEIP stations in Anne Arundel, Baltimore City, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, Howard, Cecil, Frederick, Montgomery, Prince George's, Calvert, Charles, Washington and Queen Anne county.
This position is primarily a field position, the incumbent
in this position will be required to drive a State vehicle. If
you maintain an out-of-state driving license, you must provide a certified copy
of your driving record from the appropriate Motor Vehicle Administration at the
time of appointment. Individuals must maintain a driver's license with no
more than 5 points on their driving record to drive a State vehicle.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an environmental science or natural resources planning, management or development.
Experience: None.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in urban or regional planning, engineering, physical geography, or the physical, chemical, biological sciences and one year of experience in natural resources planning or applied environmental science for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the general natural resources management and biological sciences classifications or general natural resources management and biological sciences specialty codes in the general natural resources management and biological sciences field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
It is preferred that the selected candidate has the
following:
- Experience with database and spreadsheet creation and management;
- Experience in compiling and analyzing large amounts of data and preparing summary reports and presentations;
- Familiar with Motor Vehicle Emissions Control System;
- Driver’s license.

PERSONAL LEAVE - New State employees are awarded six (6) personal leave days
annually (prorated based on start date).
ANNUAL LEAVE - ten (10) days of

PARENTAL LEAVE – up to sixty (60) days
of paid parental leave upon the birth or adoption of a child.
