LOCATION OF POSITION
Main Purpose of Job
- Developing public health services policies and guidance;
- Analyzing and developing recommendations regarding public health policies and impact on improving health outcomes and health equity;
- Serving as liaison between PHS units, ODSPHS, and the Office of Governmental Affairs and Office of Regulation & Policy Coordination during and after legislative session to track PHS related legislation and regulations;
- Preparing and reviewing testimony, explanation of impact statements, and talking points on public health services activities and policies throughout the legislative session;
- Drafting responses to constituent, legislative, and media inquiries regarding various public health policies and programs;
- Developing and monitoring regulations that govern public health programs and ensure timely updates are completed as required following the legislative session;
- Assisting with and coordinating the timely submission, review, and approval of all legislative and annual reports for PHS programs;
- Managing and ensuring workflow timelines and outcomes for legislative deliverables;
- Facilitating review processes for legislative reports and deliverables that require approval by the Deputy Secretary;
- Preparing briefings and reports summarizing the results of public health research as well as the outcomes and impact of PHS programs;
- Collating and preparing materials for the Deputy Secretary including but not limited to elected official/key stakeholder communications, meeting materials and discussion points; and,
- Representing the ODSPHS in meetings and initiatives, and on various workgroups.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three years of experience evaluating, analyzing, researching and developing health care services, policies and programs.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public Policy or closely related field for one year of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Doctorate degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public Policy or closely related field for two years of the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience analyzing and developing recommendation regarding public health policies and impact on improving health outcomes and health equity; and,
- Experience drafting responses to constituent, legislative and media inquiries.
