POSITION DUTIES
The Compliance Division is seeking a Compliance Adjustment Processor in the Individual Tax Collection Section. The primary function of this position is to process adjustments at the advanced level to correct financial data and tax calculations for taxpayer returns, reports, and related transactions.
This position also provides support to the unit in the handling of complex tax issues, which includes adjusting taxpayer accounts based on the position’s research and review of the account.
Additionally, this employee will be concerned with the promulgation of policies, rules, regulations, methods, and procedures for the purpose of implementing and promoting compliance with the tax and accounting laws, and prescribing systems for reporting, accounting for and distributing tax revenues to the various political subdivisions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Four years of professional work experience in auditing, accounting, tax law, general management or customer service.
Notes:
- Candidates may substitute the possession of an associates degree for two years of the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute 30 college credits from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience up to three years of experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a non-commissioned officer in accounting and budget classification or accounting and budget specialty codes in the tax examining field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
** For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified at http://www.naces.org/members.html.
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
Open to current Comptroller of Maryland employees only.

- Employees in this classification are required to travel in the performance of the duties.
- Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
