This is a 12-month
Administrative Aide position for the IEP team at the Maryland School for the
Deaf.

Main Purpose of Job
Provide direct administrative support to the Supervisor of
Individualized Education Program (IEP) Services and collaborate with the IEP
Coordinator team to perform their campus-wide duties and responsibilities and
represent them in daily interactions with staff, students, parents, and other
agencies.
POSITION DUTIES
Duties include but are
not limited to:
- Prioritize and direct
all communications (e-mail, phone, fax, mail, internal notes, and memorandums) to
and from the IEP Office.
- Create and manage the
IEP meeting calendar for the Frederick Campus of the Maryland School for the
Deaf with occasional support provided to the Columbia Campus.
- Coordinate and schedule
IEP meetings for Frederick Campus students and families, and communicate the
details to all meeting participants including any possible outside agency team
members.
- Schedule, contact,
cancel, arrange, and bill agencies for Foreign Language and American Sign
Language (ASL) interpreters.
- Compliantly maintain
and manage paper and electronic IEP files.
- Collaborate and assist
the Supervisor of IEP Services with daily operations of the IEP Office
management/operations and in collaboration with the IEP Coordinator team.
- Collaborate with the
Director of Student Support Services and work closely with members of the MSD
Leadership Team (MLT) to support efficient operations at MSD in all critical
departments requiring IEP scheduling and compliance with regulations for
scheduling.
- Assist in developing,
maintaining, and modifying, as appropriate, systems that aid the overall
operations and functions of the IEP office to maintain compliance with federal
and state regulations, and general school operations and expectations.
- May be asked to assume
other related duties by the Director of Student Support Services or the
Supervisor of IEP Services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Four years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.
Notes:
1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Administrative Support field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
Able to carry a
conversation in American Sign Language.
Able to use a video
phone.
Experience with cloud
storage systems, electronic platforms, spreadsheets, email encryption, and
filing.
Experience working in a
school setting or experience working with special education documents.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Demonstrated ability
to accurately type on a keyboard on a personal computer at a minimum of
forty words per minute may be required, depending on the specific requirements
of the position.
