POSITION DUTIES

The main purpose of this supervisory position is to supervise and assist trainers in the Taxpayer Services Division Employee Education Unit. The incumbent will develop, review, update and deliver tax training curriculum for employees. This position is responsible for performing research, recommending changes to division web content, and related personnel work as directed within the Employee Education Unit. The incumbent is also responsible for all related personnel issues of their subordinate staff.  Employees in this position will supervise Examiners, Specialists, and Administrative Officers. The incumbent learns the duties of the Employee Education Unit Manager and all related operational tasks pertaining to the unit. The incumbent will accept and respond to calls and emails from taxpayers, agency employees, managers, supervisors, and directors.  This position may also provide assistance to other units within the Taxpayer Services Division and other divisions of the Comptroller. 

Please Note: ​​Must be able to work Monday through Friday in a full-time capacity in the Taxpayer Services Division, Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.   Work may involve exposure to uncomfortable and unpleasant surrounding.  Work may involve physical demands such as lifting 25-35 pounds.   Evening and weekend work may be required especially during peak times of the year.  Employees are unable to prepare tax returns outside of the requirements of the job or work for private accounting services.  Leave maybe limited during certain times of the year due to high volume events, projects, or special assignments.​

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work.

NOTES:

  1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
  2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher-ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
**For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service. If you possess a degree obtained outside of the United States, please submit a detailed, course-by-course evaluation report from one of the U.S. equivalency evaluating members identified at http://www.naces.org/members.html.

  • Experience with software applications (MS Office Suite)

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. 
  • Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
