POSITION DUTIES

Analysts uphold the Department’s efforts to promote public safety through the responsibilities involving threat analysis, domain analysis, and target analysis. This position with the Warrant Apprehension's Executive and Personnel protection unit, analyzes, and disseminates intelligence information under the supervision of the Warrant Apprehension Unit Detective Supervisor I to help ensure the safety of the DPSCS staff, and the public. This position will share and receive information across multiple agencies and departments and act as liaisons between the Department, other police agencies, and the judicial system. The Analysts are relied upon to utilize their expertise and insight to assist the Department. 


  • Collect, manage, and organize confidential intelligence data from various sources to assist administrators in making informed decisions. 
  • Conduct Threat Analysis and monitor risks involving administrative violations and illegal activities.
  • Provide prompt and effective emergency information services in response to active and ongoing threats. 
  • Utilize discretion and sound judgement in releasing sensitive or confidential information.
  • Consolidate intelligence information into strategic analytical products that contextualize intelligence data for supervisors and managers.
  • Conduct targeting analysis, identify investigatory and intelligence gaps, and coordinate intel information sharing across agencies using specialized tools, unique data sets, and network analysis techniques to drive collection and provide insight.
  • Provide critical departmental products on time to supervisors, management, and other intelligence consumers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

 

Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work.

 

Notes:

  1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
  2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.


1. One year of experience working for a law enforcement agency.

2. Thirty (30) credit hours from an accredited college or university in statistics, political science, marketing, or communications.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

  • Personal Leave - new State employees are awarded six (6) personnel days annually (prorated based on start date)
