LOCATION OF POSITION

Maryland Cannabis Administration, Office of Laboratory Services, Baltimore, Maryland

Main Purpose of Job

This position will be responsible for performing routine inspections and complaint investigations at registered independent testing laboratories throughout the State of Maryland. This position will investigate adverse events and ensure that each independent testing laboratory has proper instrumentation, maintenance records, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), in accordance with COMAR 14.17 and the Technical Authority for Cannabis Testing.

In addition, this position will be responsible for maintaining case files; writing and preparing reports, including deficiency reports after inspections; and evaluating plans of correction for compliance with State of Maryland regulations. Along with inspections and investigations, this position will also be responsible for performing desk audits of seed-to-sale tracking data, as well as proficiency testing data. 

Furthermore, this position will be responsible for conducting SOP and data packet reviews, as well as reviews of stability studies. Finally, this position will be responsible for the evaluation of validation data, in order to determine the safety and effectiveness of medical cannabis products.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EducationGraduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

ExperienceFour years of administrative staff or professional work experience.  

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year, up to four years of the required experience. 

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a Commissioned Officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures, and processes; or overseeing or coordinating unit operations; or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking Commissioned Officer, on a year-for-year basis, for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should have professional experience working in a regulated laboratory environment.

The desired candidate should also have experience auditing facilities, specifically laboratories.

Additionally, the desired candidate should have professional experience using computer software programs, including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office programs. 

Finally, the desired candidate should have a collegiate degree in the field of Mathematics, Computer Science, and/or a natural science, such as Chemistry.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
