The Department of Service and Civic Innovation was established by the Serving Every Region Through Vocational Exploration (SERVE) Act of 2023 with the purpose of promoting service and volunteerism in the state of Maryland. The SERVE Act also launched two new exciting service pathways for eligible youth and adults, in addition to existing volunteer and service opportunities available through​ the Governor's Office on Service and Volunteerism.

Main Purpose of Job

The incumbent is responsible for building relationships in their Maryland region with a focus on recruiting both members and partners for the Department of Service of and Civic Innovation (DSCI). The two primary purposes of this role are the successful recruitment of members for the Maryland Corps/Service Year Option; and the successful recruitment of employers/host site partners who align with DSCI goals. An additional expectation of this role is that the incumbent aid in the development of partnerships for our AmeriCorps and other affiliated programs.

POSITION DUTIES

The Department of Service and Civic Innovation is seeking to fill three positions for this Partnerships Recruitment role. 

The primary functions of this role are to recruit Members and Host Site Partners for the Maryland Corps/Service Year Option, while also creating partnerships more generally to support both the Maryland Corps/Service Year Option, and our AmeriCorps programs.  

The incumbent must have strong communication skills to engage potential candidates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). You must include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

  • Minimum of two years of recruitment experience for professional level roles.
  • Minimum of  two years of community organizing experience (i.e., food and donation drives, volunteer management, fundraising, campaigns, etc.) and the ability to demonstrate proficiency in sourcing candidates and managing recruitment campaigns. 
  • One year of customer service experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
