THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO CURRENT TEMPORARY, CONTRACTUAL AND PERMANENT EMPLOYEES OF COMPTROLLER OF MARYLAND. 

 

This is a position specific recruitment. The resulting certified eligible list may be used to staff several current and future vacancies for this position/function only.

POSITION DUTIES

​​Would you like to work and enjoy the scenery in Historic Downtown Annapolis? This position is steps away from the Governor's Mansion, located within walking distance of many affordable dining choices. An ideal place to work and enjoy year-round. The main purpose of this position is to assist the deputies and director of the Taxpayer Services Division.

The Administrator I will be responsible for a variety of projects that include but not limited to quality assurance review, analytical reporting, data compilation and email distribution/reply to executive level personnel and other agency/government officials. The position will act as an overall support to the division's current 3 sections. Support will be aligned with the above-mentioned purpose of the position. Incumbent for this position should be highly skilled in professional writing, communication and personal computer and software applications. Incumbent for this position should be experienced in working with all classifications of staff within an organization. Be independent and a self-starter. Incumbent does not supervise staff.

Please Note:  Employee must be able to work in a full-time capacity Monday through Friday from 8:00 a. m. to 5:00 pm.  Employee must be able to tolerate an occasional uncomfortable or unpleasant experiences presented by upset or irate taxpayers.  Work may involve special physical demands such as lifting 25 to 35 pounds, delivering supplies,  etc.  Employees are unable to prepare tax returns outside of the requirements of the job or work for private accounting companies.  May be required to work weekends or late hours to support coordination of special events or functions.​ Evening and weekend work may be required especially during peak times of the year.  THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO CURRENT TEMPORARY, CONTRACTUAL AND PERMANENT EMPLOYEES OF COMPTROLLER OF MARYLAND. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of administrative staff or professional work.

NOTES:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for- year basis for the required experience.

  • Current Personal Computer Experience 
  • Organizational Skills 
  • Business Letter Response Experience in (email and paper correspondence) 5. Professional Communication skills (speaking & writing).

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. 
  • Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
