Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Composes all administrative endorsements, confidential
reports, letters, Special Orders, Directives, Form 17’s and all other
correspondence of Unit’s Command Staff and additional personnel.
Process Invoices, compose requisitions, and maintain
schedules and files daily.
Answer incoming phone calls; assist caller; route to
appropriate personnel.
Applies their knowledge of all CIS facility practices,
policies, and procedures in dealing with the day-to-day operations of the unit
so that information can be provided without interpretation.
Gathers statistical information, as requested and drafts
reports providing valid and reliable information for CIS and the MCAC, using
specialized templates, which include OSHA reporting, overtime reporting, MSP
Stat and State Stat, when applicable.
Maintains all records of the unit and must have a thorough
working knowledge of record maintenance procedures as listed in the MSP directive,
in order to apply practical use for file retention purposes.
Schedule and attend unit meetings and record minutes.
Transcribe same for distribution to appropriate personnel.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director and
Command Staff.
Note: The percentage of time spent on the above duties is
variable. In addition, duties may overlap.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Five years performing secretarial work or clerical work involving typing duties.
Notes:
1. Additional secretarial or clerical experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Thirty credit hours with a major in secretarial science or office technology from an accredited college may be substituted at the rate of thirty credits for one year of experience for up to two years of the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Administration or Personnel Specialist classifications or Administrative, Clerical, or Office Services specialty codes in the Special Assistant or Secretarial fields of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1.Demonstrated ability to accurately type on a keyboard of
a personal computer at a minimum of forty words per minute may be required,
depending on the specific requirements of the position.
3. Employees in this classification are
subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland
Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
SELECTION PROCESS

minimum qualifications will be considered for this classification. Therefore,

categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED OR QUALIFIED and remain
eligible for consideration for at least one year from the date of examination.
The list will be used by the hiring manager to select employees.

education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position.
