POSITION DUTIES

The Administrative Officer I is assigned administrative responsibilities involving the analysis of operational programs or procedures and provide recommendations for improvements. The Administrative Officer I is responsible for the supervision of professional, technical or clerical staff. This position performs the duties of Supervisor of CJIS Expungement Unit. The Expungement Unit Supervisor oversees the process to expunge criminal history records in accordance with the Maryland Criminal Procedure Act, Annotated code of Maryland.

This position ensures all expungements are in compliance with Criminal Procedure Article, 10- 101,10-109 with respect to court records (official records of court proceedings; law enforcement records-state, county, or municipal police or the office of the sheriff) and the records of the Central Repository to remove them from public inspection. The supervisor guides the Administrative Specialists and Office Service Clerks to ensure that all expungement processes are timely, complete, and accurate, and take corrective action when applicable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience. 
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.

  • One-year experience maintaining internal and external confidential files/documents.
  • Customer Service experience

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This position is for current DPSCS Criminal Justice Information Service employees.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
