Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
- Providing caseload management by investigating and gathering facts for court involved cases; interpreting court orders to determine the legal status of the child; investigating various available databases to determine the identity of parents/caretakers and their location as well arrest and criminal history; obtaining information by conducting interviews of professional and lay witnesses (eg. doctors, detectives, police officers, medical examiners, caretakers, etc.),reviewing documents, as well as safety and permanency plans; assisting with case strategy by making written recommendations.
- As per MD. Code State Fin. & Proc 3.5-2-A-0, All State of Maryland employees and contractor personnel, must complete the Security Awareness Training to ensure awareness of, and compliance with, the latest policies and best practices on information security.
- Reviewing and/or drafting court pleadings and other on-line legal documents, such as subpoenas, runaway warrants, written reports and affidavits; reviewing incoming correspondence and assisting with resolution; researching, documenting, communicating and inputting into office data systems; updating and maintaining legal files and court files.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
One year of experience working in a legal government or a
child welfare agency.
One year experience using Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
Six months experience reviewing and/or drafting legal pleadings, assisting attorneys with court case preparation.
One year experience maintaining electronic files.
