POSITION DUTIES
The position functions as a Background Investigator for the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, Human Resource Services Division, responsible for the completion of comprehensive background investigations for prospective agency employees, to include vendors and contract employees.
- Completes criminal database checks on vendor and non-mandated-(civilian) applicants.
- Review criminal database checks on vendor and non-mandated-(civilian) applicants.
- Corresponds with prospective applicants regarding their background checks and disposition paperwork.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or
possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional
work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following preferred qualification(s). Include clear and specific information on your application regarding your qualifications.
- Experience with conducting record checks using National Criminal Information Center (NCIC), Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS), Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA), or other criminal history databases.
- Experience conducting comprehensive background investigations for Law Enforcement/Public Safety Agencies.
- Experience preparing comprehensive and confidential background reports to include a candidate's work history, personal history and other related factors necessary to construct an employment profile.
