POSITION DUTIES

Works under the leadership of the Perinatal Care Coordinator to provide assessment, linkage to resources, warm hand off, homevisiting, and follow up for assigned families who have requested assistance through the Perinatal Equity and Care for Everyone (PEACE) project. Assists with supply inventory and management for perinatal support items.

This position is part-time contractual up to 20 hours a week. 

This position is eligible for hybrid telework. 

50% Assists with intake, assessment, and resource referrals of clients in the PEACE program under the direction of the Perinatal Care Coordinator. Conducts home visits, supply delivery, and follow up, including referrals, for families needing additional support as assigned by the Care Navigator. 

25% Plans, promotes, and implements quarterly diaper give aways in consultation with the PEACE Care Navigator. Responsible for ordering all products, tracking supply utilization, reviewing distribution to ensure demand is met, and collaborating with Howard County Health Department programs/outside partners to collect information to share with participants. 

25% Assists with evaluating the PEACE project by ensuring accurate data is kept on outreach and community engagement. Provides recommendations to maximize utilization of resources and helps identify gaps in services. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional work in a health care setting.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

  • Interest in supporting families in the pregnant/postpartum period

Candidates may remain on the certified eligible list for a period of at least one year. The resulting certified eligible list for this recruitment may be used for similar positions in this or other State agencies.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
