POSITION DUTIES

This position delivers behavioral health outreach and prevention activities including the delivery of the overdose response program (ORP) training and naloxone distribution. This position also schedules and conducts behavioral health prevention presentations and events. 

 Frequent evenings and weekend hours for outreach and prevention events as well as special events and emergencies.

This position is eligible for hybrid telework.

40% Conduct the Overdose Response Program (ORP) trainings including naloxone distribution. Duties include recruiting the targeted audience to promote the ORP trainings; organize and lead the ORP trainings in accordance with policies and regulations; collect and manage required documents/data for the ORP; and stock, inventory and dispense naloxone according to policies and regulations. Ensure the ORP meets or exceeds the established performance measures.

30% Conduct and schedule community behavioral health outreach prevention presentations and attend/support outreach events. Conduct and schedule community-based behavioral health outreach presentations and attend/support outreach events. This role includes engaging community stakeholders to conduct presentations and events. Support Opioid Misuse Prevention Program (OMPP) strategies and events including but not limited to disseminating opioid prevention/awareness promotional materials and coordinating presentations and events in the community. This role will coordinate with but not limited to the following committees and boards such as Recovery Oriented Systems of Care, Local Health Improvement Coalition, and the Local Behavioral Health Authority Board.

25% Overdose Misuse Prevention Program (OMPP) strategies and events. Supports strategies and events including but not limited to disseminating opioid prevention/awareness promotional materials and coordinating presentations and events in the community.

5% Other duties assigned by BHA. Performs other related duties, including:
  • Accepts responsibility for special projects as assigned.
  • Participates in appropriate professional education and training for roles and responsibilities of work assignments, as requested or approved by Supervisor.
  • Participates in Emergency Preparedness drills or actual events. This position may be declared essential on a case-by-case basis by the Health Officer or designee for emergency response to a specific Mass Casualty or disaster event. Should this position be declared essential, the employee will be notified by phone, in person, or in writing as appropriate. Notification of essential status for the event will require the employee’s presence at a work location as assigned. In accordance with the Essential Personnel Weather Event Policy, in the event that the State declares liberal leave in effect, this position is declared essential and the employee is expected to report or remain at work only if scheduled to staff a clinic, see patients or is otherwise requested by the Health Officer or designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of professional experience in assisting in the coordination of a health-related program(s) or referring people to governmental and private resources.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Health Care Administration classifications or Civil Affairs Specialist specialty codes in the health-related field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Desired qualifications:
  • Bilingual. 
  • Experience in training, teaching, or serving as a teaching/training assistant. This includes the ability to effectively communicate complex information, provide constructive feedback, and adapt instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Experience in collaborating with groups or stakeholders/internal partners.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Strong writing and communication skills. 
  • Willingness to participate in outreach activities on evenings/weekends.
