Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this
position consists of both daily Operations and Maintenance of the trade
components (plumbing, HVAC, electric, Etc.) for all real property of one of our
agency’s facilities (42 Maryland Army & Air National Guard facilities
including 343 buildings, 1 operational airfield and 4 military training sites).
This position will operate as a trade generalist, maintaining routine and minor
repairs and improvements to facilities, fixtures, mechanical equipment and
grounds. The main location for this position is the Fifth Regiment Armory but
employees can be utilized as needed at other facilities.
POSITION DUTIES
· Utilize the E-maintenance Automated Work Order system to
maintain, open and close work orders.
· Perform daily and preventative maintenance of mechanical,
plumbing, heating, air conditioning and interior and exterior surfaces
· Lead troubleshooting efforts and repair the infrastructure
systems, HVAC system, and plumbing fixtures.
· Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and
supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental
practices.
· Request repair parts and material within a timely manner.
· Maintain the roads and grounds of FRA including the inside and outside perimeter.
· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Eighth grade.
Experience: Three years of experience in the building maintenance or building construction trades including two years of experience assigning, reviewing and approving the work of other building maintenance or building construction workers.
Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher, as a non-commissioned officer in utilities classifications or mechanical maintenance management specialty codes in utility systems repair, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience maintaining HVAC systems
Experience maintaining indoor and outdoor plumbing
fixtures.
Experience opening and closing customer
service and work order request for a facility in a timely manner
LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION
This position will
require the ability to pass a State & Federal background check to access
military facilities within the state of Maryland. Being able to access
these facilities is a condition of employment for this position.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland with less than 5 points to operate a state vehicle.
