Introduction
The Maryland State Department of Education is dedicated to supporting a world-class educational system that prepares all students for college and career success in the 21st century. With excellent stewardship from our divisions, we oversee State and federal programs that support the needs of a diverse population – students, teachers, principals, and other educators throughout Maryland. As part of the Maryland State Department of Education, the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DORS) provides services to assist students with disabilities prepare for the work world, vocational rehabilitation services to assist adults with significant disabilities who are seeking to enter or reenter the workforce, and the adjudication of Social Security disability claims for the citizens of Maryland.

POSITION DUTIES
- Budgetary responsibilities, including the development of budgets, monitoring of expenditures and realignment of monies to ensure a balanced budget for RTS, and program analysis for growth.
- Responsible for the RTS marketing initiative and plan.
- Coordinates inter-agency transactions and liaisons with other state entities, private industry, local governments, WTC, DORS and MSDE departments, community partners and consumers.
- Confers with the RTS Administrative Team regarding business practices, program operations, program policy and procedures.
- Interprets, explains, and ensures adherence to federal and state laws and regulations, certification standards, and Division, Center, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Maintains expert and current knowledge of business operations, techniques of administrative analysis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Two years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience.
3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Google Applications/Workspace.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with case management software or database applications.
- Experience with collecting and analyzing data.
- Experience with budgets and tracking expenditures/finances.
- Experience working with and supporting multiple projects and programs simultaneously.
